はじめまして。(Hajimemashite. – “Hello for the first time.”) You like that Chinese Star Wars shirt, don’t ya? Yeah you do 🙂

My name is Dave. Welcome to Dave’s Asia 2.0. As the name suggests this is a reboot of an earlier blogging attempt, Dave’s Asia, where I blogged about all things Asia-related that I either found interesting or worked on at school.

I am currently attending Portland State University in beautiful Portland, Oregon where I am pursuing a bachelor’s degree in International Studies with a focus on East Asia, and minoring in Japanese. My dream is to study in Japan and, perhaps in the future, to work and live there. I’ve been to Japan once before. I fell in love with Tokyo and I’d love to go back someday.

In this blog I will be posting links to news articles relating to Japan, and East Asia in general, that I have read and that I find interesting. I may from time to time provide some analysis if I feel particularly motivated to do so. I will also be blogging about my experiences at school following this subject area, and perhaps especially about my Japanese language class, i.e., things that I am currently studying, topics, conundrums, etc. I also regularly attend Asia-related events and destinations around town–Portland is a great town for it–and I will post pics and synopses of those as well.

I hope you enjoy reading this blog.

どうぞよろしくお願いします。(Douzo yoroshiku onegaishimasu. “Nice to meet you and please regard me favorably.”)
